Merge when two cards contain information you want to keep together. Delete only a confirmed unnecessary record. Link or keep cards when separate accounts are intentional.
How to Bulk Edit Contacts on iPad with a Preview
In Compact Contacts Manager, select the intended contacts, open Bulk Edit, choose a field and operation, then use Review Changes before saving a recovery copy and applying.
Duplicate Contacts in Outlook for Mac: Where Are They Stored?
Start in Outlook’s People view and identify each card’s folder and account. Then check Apple Contacts separately: seeing a record in Outlook does not prove another Mac contact app can access it.

Does Compact Contacts create another contact account?
No. Apple’s system Contacts database remains the source of truth. The app stores preferences such as Saved Views, not a developer-hosted copy of your address book.
Who handles iCloud, Google, Exchange, or CardDAV sync?
macOS, iPadOS, and the configured provider. Compact Contacts works with the records Apple exposes and does not claim to operate or verify synchronization.
Can I try the interface before granting access?
Yes. The Sample Contacts workspace contains fictional, temporary, on-device records and does not change the system Contacts database.
Can it merge every duplicate automatically?
No. On Mac and iPad, Merge Studio asks you to choose the surviving fields and destination for one group at a time, then keeps eligible recovery in encrypted on-device Merge History. You can also start from selected contacts. There is no Merge All action.
